OK, so while I do really like the halo dining table from crate and barrel, i'm thinking that maybe it's not so necessary to spend a lot on a dining table. i mean, it's not like we hang out at the table very often - it's probably more important to splurge on the couch. besides, tables get messy and get food and (someday) baby vomit on them. so, i love this dining set from pier 1:
totally dig the rustic, distressed ivory paint. i do wish the table came round as opposed to the rectangle - will have to see if that will work in the new area. would look great with the faux bois console table i posted about earlier! even if i don't go with the carmichael table:
i think i'll at LEAST go for the curved-back dining chairs. i wasn't really crazy about the other chairs i had picked out anyway and these are SO cute.
looks like we may be closing earlier than expected, which means i get to start DECORATING earlier than expected (yes!). here is the way the developers have the new dining room / living room staged for showing:
and now, through the magic of photoshop, i give you what our new dining room / living room will look like AFTER i have decorated:
the couch angle is less than perfect, but that's what you get when using pictures of furniture off websites. here's the list of items i plan on purchasing and where to get them (if you're interested):
trovata sofa with cushions in sunbrella: canvas (crate and barrel)
trovata lounge chair with cushions in sunbrella: canvas (crate and barrel)
love bird rug (just bought it on sale from west elm!)
love bird runner, not in picture but will be in hallway (west elm)
natural tree stump side table (west elm)
garden gate wall art (sadly, looks like it has been discontinued from pottery barn)
halo dining table with 48" glass top (crate and barrel)
basque dining chairs, not totally sold on these but am considering (crate and barrel)
trey pendant lamp, also not sold but looks nice (crate and barrel)
faux bois console table (west elm)
tuscan glaze urns from pottery barn are no longer available
egg bud vases (pottery barn)
branch shelves (already own from west elm)
and that's that, for now. i'm glad i decided to post this today - i scored on the bird rug sale. i'm pretty disappointed that those cool garden gates are discontinued from pottery barn though. i'll have to find something similar. anybody have any ideas?
our current andersonville condo is on the market (are you looking to buy?), and i wanted to post pictures of what it looks like because i'm rather proud of how it's decorated:
from left to right: the living room, the dining room, the kitchen, the bedroom, the bathroom, and my office. most of our furniture and decorations came from domicile, world market, pottery barn, cb2, pier one, and west elm. the one wall of paper in my office came from the paper source, and was a major bitch to put up because it was lots of sheets of hand printed paper which didn't match up too well. i am sad to be leaving that accomplishment, though. i think all the dark wood furniture goes really well with the trim in our vintage condo, and we get a fair amount of sunlight to balance it out. however, i'm planning to decorate the new condo in a much lighter, brighter outdoorsey feel. i'm very into dried plants and flowers, as the having of 3 cats prevents lots of real foliage.
i went on a little bit of a bender the other day (at least, in terms of my usual spending on clothes) at anthropologie because i was feeling happy after acupuncture at shen shen and the sun was out. i've already lightened my hair for the season, and so am trying to usher in spring in as many other ways possible (including the purchase of springy clothes). i've got pics of all but one shirt that i bought:
more on the new condo later.
